About us · Est. 2006
Two decades online. Still going strong.
Tangy Media has been building websites since 2006. That’s 20 years of helping businesses look good, get found and grow online.
01 Our story
A lot has changed. We’ve changed with it.
When we started, websites were simpler, phones didn’t have browsers worth mentioning, and “social media” barely existed.
Over 20 years we’ve worked with just about every kind of web tool and technology going — from hand-coded sites to modern content management, online shops, search marketing and beyond. We’ve kept what works and ditched what doesn’t.
The result? We can pick the right approach for your business quickly, build it properly, and explain it in plain English.
1994
Before the business
The first websites came a little earlier. In 1994 our founder, William, was building basic fanzines and experiments on the family’s dial-up PC. By 2006 the hobby had a name, a phone number and its first clients.
02 Then & now
Thirty years of the web. Twenty as Tangy Media.
The internet never sits still. Here’s how it’s changed since the first dial-up screech — and what we did about it each time.

1994
Dial-up and fanzines
The webNetscape Navigator arrives. Getting online means a screeching modem and a phone line nobody else can use.
UsA young William builds his first pages on the family PC: fanzines, experiments and far too many tiled backgrounds.
-
1998
Google opens its doors
The webSearch starts deciding who gets found. Web directories and guestbooks slowly fade away.
UsStill a hobby. Learning HTML the hard way: table layouts, spacer images and a lot of view-source.
-
2003
Websites you can edit
The webWordPress launches, then Facebook a year later. Websites stop being brochures and become things you keep up to date.
UsFriends and local businesses start asking for sites. The hobby begins to look a lot like a job.

UsStill building websites that work, and still picking up the phone.
03 What we believe
Four things we won’t budge on.
Trends come and go. These haven’t changed since day one.
01
Simple beats clever.
A website should be easy to use — for your customers and for you.
02
Results matter.
Looking good is the start. Bringing in enquiries is the point.
03
Relationships last.
We’d rather look after you for ten years than build a site and vanish.
04
Honest advice.
If you don’t need something, we’ll tell you.
